Soft Balance by Meg Fransee

カリフォルニア州オークランドを拠点にするFloss Editionより、アーティスト メグ・フランシーがリノカットで制作したオリジナルの木版画を、リソグラフ印刷によって再現しています。脚や人物の横顔といった人物像、そして抽象的な形、文字、そして様々な形状を用いて、フランシーはページ上を移動するパターンを創り出し、肖像画、風景画、そして3本のキャンドルと鎖の輪といった異質な物体を繋ぎ合わせたモザイク画を生み出しています。
『SOFT BALANCE』は、作家の視覚言語と、本の制作過程における様々な物理的プロセスを結びつける実験です。


In this edition of Soft Balance risograph printing is used to reproduce the original block-printed images Meg Fransee created using linocuts. Using figural shapes such as legs and human profiles, as well as abstracted forms, text, and shapes, Fransee creates patterns that move across the page and create portraits, landscapes, and a mosaic of images that bring together objects as disparate as a trio of candles and a ring of chain.
Soft Balance is an experiment in connecting the artist’s visual language to different physical processes of book making.
